The Future of Drinking Water in Home Construction – Which Systems Builders Really Need in 2025

Die Zukunft des Trinkwassers im Hausbau – Welche Systeme Bauherren 2025 wirklich brauchen

Water quality will be a planning issue in 2025.
New PFAS limit values, increasing microplastic contamination, and water parameters that vary greatly regionally make drinking water hygiene a mandatory module in modern house building. Homeowners need systems that specifically intercept chemical, particulate, and microbiological contaminants – without complexity, but with technical clarity.

1. Central protection: mechanical pre-filtration

In-house installations are sensitive to sediments, rust, and biofilm fragments. A robust stainless steel pre-filter (80–100 µm) stabilizes pressure, protects equipment, and prevents corrosion in the piping system. This first stage is standard today – not a luxury.

2. Limescale and hardness management

Limescale deposits are one of the biggest efficiency losses in the household: even 1 mm of limescale can increase the energy demand in the hot water system by double digits. Physical TAC systems offer a chemical-free solution, prevent deposits, and reduce maintenance – crucial for sustainable installation technology.

3. Point-of-use drinking water filtration: intercepting molecular contaminants

Public networks only incompletely remove PFAS, nanoplastics, and pharmaceuticals. Under-sink systems with combined adsorption and fine-pored filtration improve water quality at the critical point: the kitchen. Systems like SYDROS Optimus/Magnus address micro-pollutants, organic residues, and particles in the submicron range – an area that classic activated carbon alone does not cover.

4. Direct flow reverse osmosis (RO): when purity is the focus

RO is the only household-suitable technology that simultaneously reduces dissolved ions, PFAS (short- and long-chain), nitrates, heavy metals, pesticides, and nanoplastics. Modern direct-flow systems work without a tank → higher hygiene, lower maintenance, and stable performance.

5. UVC disinfection for microbiological stability

In older buildings or hot water installations with stagnation, UVC-LED disinfection can reliably neutralize bacterial loads. A precise addition when special hygiene standards are necessary.

House building 2025 demands a clear drinking water strategy.
Pre-filtration + limescale protection in the house, adsorption or RO in the kitchen – modular, efficient, and designed for molecular purity.
